A step into the unknown without fear and almost without clothes. The seduction of the very beginning: when you want it so naively and so fiercely that you don't care about any abyss ahead.
On a snowy peak in the gold of dawn stands a nearly naked young wanderer, frozen mid-step: a sheer fabric has slipped free and streams in the wind, baring her back, her hip, the curve of a breast in the warm light. A staff with a light little bundle is slung over her shoulder — everything she owns; at her feet a white dog leaps joyfully, the faithful companion who senses the edge for her. She stands at the very brink, face lifted to the sun, eyes half-closed and lips parted — not afraid of the height but drunk on it. In this figure lives pure desire before all experience: a body that has never once been burned and so is ready for anything, trusting and unafraid. This is the card of the leap of faith, the fresh start, the beginning without calculation — only impulse and curiosity. The Fool does not plunge into the abyss; she is about to step toward it, and in that step, in that nakedness before the whole world, there is more courage than in any caution. Sometimes the most alive thing you can do is trust the call and step out without knowing what lies below.
🌹White rose — passion raised to purity — held without either suppression or excess
🎒Black staff and bundle — unconscious, still-unshaped power and the experience of the past; he carries it without quite knowing he does
🐕Little white dog at his heels — instinct, loyal to its master: it both warns him of the edge and urges him on
🏔️Snow-capped peaks — trials already crossed, and the height from which the Fool surveys the world
🌄The cliff's edge — the abyss across which the crossing is made — the leap over the gap
Interpretation
The Fool is courage without a backward glance — the start of the path, the intuitive leap. A new possibility appears that the mind hasn't yet justified, but the soul has already chosen. This isn't foolishness in the everyday sense; it's the readiness to step into the unknown — the very «leap across the gap» without which no inner movement is possible.
Archetypally the Fool is zero, the egg-point from which the whole deck unfolds. He carries his power unconsciously, unlike the Magician with his deliberate white wand: the same fire in two modes. The Fool doesn't tell the sacred from the absurd — and so he passes where clever people stop.
In a real reading the card says: the moment is right, act. In work that's a start with no business plan; in love, open, undefended sincerity. The Fool asks you not to demand guarantees and not to clutch at something living — it stays alive only in motion.
The deck's beginning and end close into a circle: what the Fool seeks, the World dances. It's the duet of «naked potential» and «fulfilled wholeness». When a hard transition sits nearby — the Chariot or the Devil — the Fool becomes the catalyst for a change of level.

Advice & forecast
✦ The card's advice
Leap, trust, don't insist on seeing solid ground first. Don't try to «save the moment» — it lives only in motion. Listen to intuition more closely than to reason: where the soul has already said «yes», the mind will still be hunting for justifications.
🔮 What the forecast holds
Ahead lies a fork where you'll have to walk without a map. A clean beginning opens — a new role, release from the old one. The door is flung wide — but you enter it with a step, not with thinking about the step.
↓ The Fool reversed
The reversed Fool is that same courage, cut off from its tuning to the moment. Here recklessness and cowardice share one root: both come from not knowing how to listen to intuition. Either a chance missed out of fear of the abyss — you stand at the edge and can't decide, and the chance won't come again; or the opposite, a leap taken with no inner signal at all, out of bravado, that turns into carelessness, waste, and fuss. The energy of a beginning escapes curdling into either mania or apathy only when contact returns with that quiet «go» inside.

In the past, the Hermit — you spent a long time turning things over alone, storing up an inner light. In the present, the Fool — it's time to step off without waiting for full clarity: the moment is right, the soul has already chosen. In the future, the Magician — the raw impulse will find directed will and tools. The thread is clear: reflection has ripened into a leap, and the leap into mastery. Don't demand guarantees — begin.

At the heart of the moment, the Fool — before you lies a clean beginning and the call to step into the unknown. The obstacle, the Tower — the fear that a familiar structure will collapse; but only what rested on self-deception falls. The outcome, the Sun — beyond the leap opens the clear joy of a person come of age. The step only looks risky: intuition guides more precisely than calculation, so trust it.

Hindering you, the High Priestess — the temptation to stay behind the veil, to know everything and do nothing. The knowledge is already there; don't multiply it, turn it into a step.

How it differs from Manara
Rider-Waite-SmithThe Fool
vs
Soblazn — Sensual TarotThe Fool
Manara softens the Fool's impulse and leaves only comfort: a woman cradles a toy while the road merely glimmers behind her — a sweet indecision that's easy to get stuck in. Waite restores the card's original nerve: a youth strides toward the cliff's edge without looking down, trusting a path that offers no guarantees. The strength of the classic image is its universality — this isn't a love scene but the archetype of a pure beginning, fit for any question: the moment is right, go, and don't try to «keep the magic» by holding on.
