Favourite
«Favourite» is an original Arcanika deck set in the world of costume drama: balls, corsets, orangeries and long corridors where everything is settled by a glance and a pause. Its heroine is neither victim nor villain — she lives by her own wits and outplays them all, and takes power herself, because power like that is never given. Seventy-eight arcana in the classic structure: it works on any question, but sounds strongest where cool calculation hides under a beautiful wrapping — influence and standing, other people's intentions, the profitable move, the price of giving in. Pastel outside, calculation within.

What Favourite is
A costume-drama world: ballrooms lit by candles, orangeries and winter gardens, long corridors, theatre boxes, carriages and letters. Pastel silk, lace, elbow-length gloves, and a corset that keeps the back straight even when there is nothing to hold on to. Everything here is settled by a glance and a pause: nobody slams doors — people simply leave the room at the right moment.
The deck's line is «Beautiful doesn't mean innocent». The soft palette is not naivety but cover: calculation is easier to carry out in a tea-rose gown. Pastel outside, arithmetic within.
Who her heroine is
Neither victim nor villain. A woman who lives by her own wits and outplays them all, because she watches more closely and stays silent longer than anyone else. She is not married off, not rescued and not punished — she decides herself what to take and what to pay for it.
Power in this world is never given, it is taken: a favourite's place rests not on any right or document but on desire — his for her, and her own. So she asks for no guarantees and does not wait to be chosen. She moves first.
The tone is light and ironic. This is not a story about gloom and ruin but about appetite: the pleasure of a precisely calculated move, and the laugh she allows herself when the calculation works.
Seventy-eight different women
There is no single heroine walking a path through this deck. On each card there is her own: a different face, a different age, a different gown, a different room. You meet her once.
That is deliberate. An arcanum is a state, not a character, and any woman can end up in it — the one stepping onto the parquet for the first time and the one who has known for twenty years whom to seat beside her at dinner. What you will recognise is not the heroine but the position you have ended up in yourself.
How Favourite differs from the classics
The meanings are canonical; the scenes are retold in the language of costume drama. We do not change what an arcanum means — we change the room it happens in: where the canon shows a roadside scene, here you get a reception, an orangery or the back stairs.
So you recognise a card not by its attribute but by the situation: who nodded to whom, who turned away first, and whose letter was left unopened.
The structure of the deck
The structure is classic: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor — Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles, with Page / Knight / Queen / King. Names, numbering and meanings are canonical (Strength VIII, Justice XI). If you already read tarot, you will not have to learn Favourite from scratch.
What questions it suits
The structure and meanings are canonical, so any spread works — from a month ahead to questions of work, money and direction.
But the deck sounds strongest where cool calculation hides under a beautiful wrapping: influence and standing, other people's intentions, the profitable move, the price of giving in. What the person beside you is getting out of this story — and what you are.
It is especially good on questions of status and recognition: where you are treated as merely charming and where you are genuinely reckoned with; what you hand over for the place you occupy, and whether it is worth it.
How we read Favourite
We speak to you directly but without sermons: we name the balance of forces, what each side gains, and the price of the move. Where several readings are possible we list them and give you the sign by which you will know which one is yours.
A reading here is an assessment of the position and the next move, not a verdict. We promise no dates, we do not decide for you, and we do not pass guesses off as facts. Every interpretation ends not with a conclusion but with something you can do today.
How we read timing
Tarot doesn't name exact dates — that goes against its nature. To the question "when," we read RHYTHM and PHASE: the card's suit gives the speed (Fire — fast, Water — in waves, Air — sharply, Earth — slowly), and the number gives the stage (just beginning → in full swing → near the resolution). This is a living tendency, not a calendar.
This deck also has an astrological layer — the decans. The zodiac circle (360°) is divided into 12 signs, and each sign into 3 decans of 10° each; that's 36 decans in all, and the Sun passes through each in about 10 days. Every Minor card from 2 to 10 is tied to its own decan — and this gives a gentle seasonal window ("late autumn," for example): not an exact date, but the time of year when the card's energy is at its strength.
This way you get a tangible "when" that has nothing to "fail to come true": we honestly promise a season and a tendency, not a number on the calendar.
