Manara makes the rider a woman and strips out the martial quality in favor of purposeful swiftness: she knows her goal and her path. Where Waite speaks of an impulsive lunge that can carry you off course, Manara specifies: ride — but only toward a clear goal; otherwise initiative can backfire.
