Manara's Sun is about freedom from limits and elation. It is new horizons of knowing and feeling, the wish to rise above the earthly and the temporary, a new — often large-scale — goal. The heroine's wings are hand-made — she fashioned them herself and took responsibility for the flight. This is a conscious choice, not an accident.
