Judgement

Manara Erotic Tarot
awakeningreckoningresurrectioncalling

The results of past decisions. Taking responsibility for the past without a sense of guilt. Nothing is ever in vain.

The card's image

The body of a naked woman lies on a blossoming meadow. A flock of doves flies out from between her thighs. You can't say she has died — but her body has done its task: to give life. One might suppose this is the heroine from the Sun card, who flew too high in her dreams and ambitions and then came down to earth. The meadow around her is in bloom — she is already in favourable conditions for a new life.

Interpretation

Manara's Judgement is about the results of past decisions and taking responsibility for the past without a sense of guilt. Your former actions were not in vain: everything you decided bore the present fruit and brought you to where you are. If you want a new scenario, you need new decisions — new ones precisely.

The doves flying out of the body are the scenarios of your future. They are neither bad nor good, but exactly as you created them by your past deeds. And the blossoming meadow says: you are already in favourable conditions, all the timings, people and circumstances are the ones you need. Don't look for special signs — use what is there.

A word apart about the sense of guilt. If you feel and project it, then you are not accepting your former decisions, not accepting the past. And yet you would not have become the person you are now without doing what you did. So why regret the foundation of your present achievements?

Advice & forecast

The card's advice

Forgive yourself for past mistakes and improper conduct, promise yourself not to do so again — by this you will open a new scenario of life. Stop regretting: the past is a foundation, not a verdict. If you want different events, make new decisions rather than repeating old ones in hope of a different outcome. Don't wait for special signs: the favourable conditions are already around you.

What the forecast holds

A reappraisal of experience, getting your just deserts. Even if something is lost or a relationship came to nothing — it gave the necessary experience for growth and an understanding of what is acceptable in a union and in life, and what is not.

Judgement reversed

The reversed Judgement is about getting stuck in the past and in guilt. At best you finally let go of old scores: you forgive yourself for former decisions, you stop judging yourself for what has long outlived itself, and you let in a new scenario. At worst the guilt becomes a prison: you chew over your mistakes, punish yourself for the past, drag verdicts from old relationships into new ones and wait for punishment instead of fruit. Self-flagellation, an inability to forgive (yourself or another), the repetition of the same scenarios in hope of a different outcome, all appear. The neighbouring cards decide: bright ones and The Sun nearby — forgiveness and a new start; heavy and water ones — getting stuck in self-condemnation. The reversed advice: lift the verdict you have passed on the past — it gave you everything you have now.

How it differs from Waite

Judgement — Rider-Waite-Smith deck
Rider-Waite-SmithJudgement
Manara Erotic TarotJudgement

In the Waite tradition Judgement is an angel with a trumpet, the dead rising from their graves: resurrection, a call from above, a final verdict and renewal. With Manara there is no trumpet and no graves — there is a reclining woman from whom doves fly out: a quiet outcome, the fruits of past decisions, a new life with no thunderous verdict. Manara removes the dreadful judgement and stresses the acceptance of the past without guilt and gratitude for the experience. Where Waite calls with a trumpet, Manara shows a harvest reaped by your own hands.
