"Satiety": the maximum of emotional happiness achieved — and the crack of reckoning. Having received everything, one realizes one did not want it; now the price must be paid.
Ten Cups are arranged like the Sephiroth on the Tree of Life, but they are unstable: tilted and spilling water into one another from the great lotus that overshadows the entire composition. An image of perfection already losing its balance — overflowing tipping into unease. The water sign Pisces has sunk into a stagnant drowsiness, but within it the violent quality of Mars is ripening.
🏆Ten Cups as Sephiroth — The fullness of emotional development; completion of the suit
↯Tilted, spilling Cups — Perfection losing its balance; overflow
🪷Great overarching lotus — The single source feeding the whole composition over its rim

Interpretation
The Ten of Cups corresponds to Malkuth in the suit of Water and the decan Mars in Pisces. The Tens are the end of all energy — a warning: look where you will arrive if you take the first wrong step. The appropriate work of water is complete — and unease begins. The water sign Pisces has sunk into stagnant drowsiness, but within it the violent quality of Mars is ripening, fostering decay.
Mars is a crude, rending force that inevitably attacks any illusory perfection, and its energy contrasts strikingly with the peaceful, spiritual energy of Pisces. The pursuit of pleasure has been crowned with success — and with the discovery: having received everything, one realizes one did not actually want it, but now the price must be paid.
The Ten as the number of abundance points in the suit of Water to the fullness of emotional development and the highest degree of happiness: a home found, people of kindred spirit, a great love, new friends who are yet to play an important role. This is the maximum achieved — and immediately the condition: one may enjoy it, but not cling to it, for the summit is already inclining toward change.
In the upright position the reading divides. In a softer and warmer reading: the fullness of emotional happiness, home and loved ones. But the Thoth adds precisely the crack of reckoning that turns the achieved maximum into a card of gorging on happiness: a cup full to the brim on the outside, within which unease and discord are ripening; the feeling that everything is present — yet there is no peace.
This is the finale in matter of what began with the source of the Ace Ace of Cups, and the overflow of the fullness of the Nine Nine of Cups. Companions through Malkuth are the Ten of Wands Ten of Wands and the Ten of Swords Nine of Swords; as the Ten completes the minor cards, so the Universe The Universe completes the majors — an ending.

Advice & forecast
✦ The card's advice
Do not chase after more — ask yourself what you genuinely want. Outwardly you have everything: home, loved ones, the fullness of feeling. But if unease is ripening beneath this, then the pursuit of pleasure has brought the cup to the brim. Enjoy the achieved maximum — and do not cling to it, for the summit is already inclining toward change. Do not try to hold perfection by force: Mars will attack the illusory calm regardless. Accept the fullness gratefully and be ready to release what is superfluous for the sake of the living.
🔮 What the forecast holds
Ahead: satiety, discord, the reckoning for excess — the pursuit of pleasure has brought the cup to its brim and disturbed the calm. Outward abundance of feeling, beneath which unease is ripening — attained well-being that no longer brings joy. The forecast may also be warm (a home found, a great love), but the crack of reckoning is there. The outcome is in your hands: enjoy the maximum without clinging — and you will avoid gorging on happiness.
↓ Ten of Cups reversed
Reversals in the Thoth are conditional. The reversed Ten of Cups may mean the recognition of emptiness beneath outward abundance and a turn toward the genuine, a renunciation of the excessive for the sake of the living — the very "not clinging" to the achieved maximum. In a negative reading — open discord, the shattering of an illusory idyll, scandal and dissolution where everything seemed concluded. The reversal asks: are you releasing what is superfluous for the sake of the genuine, or exploding the idyll by clinging to it.

How it differs from Waite
Rider-Waite-SmithTen of Cups
vs
Thoth TarotTen of Cups
Here the two decks diverge most sharply in mood. In Waite the Ten of Cups is a happy family under a rainbow of cups: a home found, a great love, loyal friends, an unclouded idyll. In the Thoth the same fullness and satisfaction are present, but with the reminder: you have reached the maximum; it is time to enjoy it — and not to cling, otherwise the abundance overflows into unease and reckoning (Mars in Pisces). Waite shows the idyll as a conclusion; the Thoth shows its fragility at the very summit.
