Three of Water

Manara Erotic Tarot
celebrationfriendshipcommunityjoyabundance

The bliss of one's own self, of a measured life and of living through one's emotions. The card of sensual experience: pleasure, relaxation, life in the moment.

The card's image

A naked girl has dived headfirst into the water. She moves languidly through the clear, transparent water, unashamed of her nakedness. No haste, no anxiety — only pleasure in her own body and in the gentle current that carries her wherever she pleases. This is not a scene of passion for someone: the heroine is self-sufficient, she feels good alone with herself, and in that lies her strength.

Interpretation

The Three of Water is about sensual experience and immersion in the calm waters of emotion. This is not a card of stress, worry, haste or important decisions. It is about pleasure and relaxation: about drifting with the current, living in the moment and not planning ahead.

Right now you have no concern for deep feelings or anyone's confessions. You have enough of your own self to feel harmony and the joy of life. This is a rare and precious state — to be happy in solitude, not from emptiness but from fullness.

Sometimes, though, the card speaks of flight: from reality, from responsibility, of refusing to look fear or a problem in the face. Especially if cards of the airy suit fell nearby — then "I drift with the current" easily turns into "I'm hiding from what must be solved."

Advice & forecast

The card's advice

Allow yourself a pause and pleasure. There is nothing right now to decide, prove or conquer — live this stage as the rest you have a right to. Trust the current, but keep the shore in mind: if the airy suit is nearby, check whether, under the guise of "living in the moment," you are hiding from what long ago needed to be named and solved.

What the forecast holds

Ahead lies an unhurried, gentle flow of events — or the swift fulfillment of small wishes. A period of enjoying yourself and life, without drama. Beside static cards there is a risk of withdrawing into yourself to the point of the blues; beside airy ones — light flirtation and pleasant conversation; beside earthy ones (Ace of Earth) — do not turn rest into a race for results.

Three of Water reversed

The reversed Three of Water is pleasure that has turned to flight. The bright "I feel good with myself" curdles into "I don't want to see anyone": self-sufficiency is replaced by isolation, the flow by stagnant water, rest by procrastination and the blues. You hide in the water from the shore where unsolved matters wait, unnamed fears, a conversation you're afraid to begin. Or the reverse: you never let yourself dive in — you drive, achieve, earn a right to rest that was already yours, and end up wrung dry. The reversed advice: ask honestly whether this is rest or escape. If escape — name the shore you must swim to; if burnout — finally let go of the oars. Beside the airy suit especially: "I'm drifting with the current" here often means "I'm shutting my eyes to the truth."

How it differs from Waite

Three of Cups — Rider-Waite-Smith deck
Rider-Waite-SmithThree of Cups
Manara Erotic TarotThree of Water

In Waite the Three of Cups is three women raising their chalices in a circle: celebration, friendship, shared joy, harvest and reunion. The joy there is social, shared with others. Manara turns the same note of pleasure inward: one girl, naked, alone with the water and herself. Where Waite celebrates "with friends," Manara celebrates "with oneself": sensual experience, self-sufficiency, the bliss of living through emotion without anyone's company and without plans.
