Interpretation
The Heart is the card of love and feeling, and for all its apparent simplicity it is a subtle one. It is worth distinguishing between love and being in love: being in love flares suddenly, clouds the mind, lives on instinct and emotion, and rarely lasts long; love is a conscious feeling that ripens over years and deepens with time. On its own, The Heart speaks of feeling in the present moment — of attraction without commitment — rather than of a lasting union (that is The Ring's domain). More broadly, the card means anything that appeals to you, anything desired and welcome. And do not be too quick to read it as an unambiguously good sign: asked about the future, a single Heart often foretells a powerful emotional release, sometimes a negative one — the neighbouring cards will show whether this is joy or pain.
Life Areas
One of the kindest cards in matters of feeling — genuine reciprocity, openness, tenderness, the sensation of being home beside another person. In a new relationship it signals the birth of sincere affection and attraction; in a mature one — a quiet deep love that strengthens with years; sometimes it marks the revival of feeling after difficulties, and forgiveness. But The Heart alone does not promise marriage: this is infatuation without obligations, and with difficult neighbours the feeling will cool quickly.
Work that genuinely suits you, a warm and responsive team, decisions made on feeling rather than calculation; creative professions (actors, musicians, artists, writers) and caring fields (nurses, surgeons, charity work). Financially — a favourable moment: assistance, a bonus, a generous boss, good fortune; with difficult neighbours — distress over money.
First and foremost the heart itself, blood, vessels, circulation; also emotional suffering — when someone is hurting deep inside. The recommendation is more rest and warmth; healing moves faster in their presence.

Open, kind, warm-hearted, always ready to help — and at the same time highly sensitive, easily wounded, quick to take offence. They take everything personally, are defenceless before harshness, and may react with disproportionate force — pouring out everything that has built up, or, conversely, holding it all inside and slowly burning themselves out. In early Christian symbolism the heart is the sign of faith, hope, and love — and of readiness for self-sacrifice (it is an emblem of the Virgin Mary). It is the centre of human existence, the source of the soul's strength and the capacity to love. But the heart is the source of anger as much as love: there is only one step from love to hate.
