The force of thought in its pure form: a brilliant, rational mind without a stable goal. The Prince's chariot is drawn by winged children leaping in all directions. The sword that creates, and the scythe that immediately destroys what has been created.
The Prince in finely-linked mail rides in a chariot in which geometric forms are visible. The chariot is drawn by winged children bounding in every direction without reins, capricious — hence the chariot is mobile but holds no direction. On the Prince's head blazes a child's head, the secret crown. In his right hand a raised sword with which he creates, in his left a scythe with which he immediately destroys what he has made.

⚔️The creating sword — a brilliant capacity to construct intellectual systems
🌾The destroying scythe — immediately destroys what has been created: ideas without practical outlet

Interpretation
The Prince of Swords is the airy part of Air, the letter Vav in the element of the suit: intellect, mind as such, in its purest and most unmixed form. By the Tetragrammaton the Prince is the son of the Knight and the Queen, the active offspring of their union, its intellectual image; his action is more lasting than that of his predecessors, for he is the 'manifested witness' of what was done in secret.
This is the perfect picture of Mind: a brilliant, rational, flawlessly functioning apparatus of thought — but without a stable goal, for pure air does not know where to blow. The figure is described as an 'icy north wind' bearing sharp conflicts and heated discussions: an unpleasant conversation that will nonetheless clarify the situation and lead to an important awareness.
In the upright position this is the force of thought in its pure form: a mind full of ideas, plans, and refined ideals, reason working flawlessly. Remarkable rationality, inventiveness, the ability to construct intellectual systems and to see all sides of a question. An atmosphere of direct, cutting conversation: you express disagreement sharply, do not dodge the conflict, argue with a keen tongue — and from this clarity is born.
This reading adds the advantage of a resourceful, flexible mind: defending your interests, you display quick-wittedness. But the card carries a warning as well: ideas clash with each other, goals are many and unstable. The counsel — subordinate the brilliant mind to a constructive will and bring at least something to practical realization.
By the Tetragrammaton the Prince is the fruit of the union of the Knight Knight of Swords and the Queen Queen of Swords of Swords. The creating sword and the destroying scythe rhyme with the alchemy of Art Art — 'divide and unite' — but without their synthesis. The secret crown-Tiphareth connects the Prince to the Sun the Sun as the hidden center. Gemini and the fragmenting intellect relate him to the Eight Eight of Swords.

Advice & forecast
✦ The card's advice
Subordinate the brilliant mind to a constructive will and bring at least something to a deed — do not dissolve in pure form. Your reason is working flawlessly right now, ideas and plans are abundant, you see all sides of the question — but for exactly that reason you risk only creating and then immediately destroying what you have made with the scythe of doubt. Find an anchor of purpose: choose one direction and hold the reins, otherwise the winged children will carry the chariot wherever they please. In dispute be sharp and resourceful, do not avoid the direct conversation — but let quick-wittedness serve the cause, not the game of every side of the idea at once.
🔮 What the forecast holds
A period of brilliant but unstable mental activity is coming: time for ideas, plans, refined intellectual systems — and a shortage of direction. A sharp, cutting conversation is possible, a heated discussion, an unpleasant but clarifying confrontation from which an important awareness is born. The mind will work flawlessly, resourcefully defending your interests. But without an anchor of purpose the energy risks scattering: much will begin and then immediately break off. The outcome is favorable if you subordinate the rationality to will and carry at least one conception through to practice.
↓ Prince of Swords reversed
The reversal sharpens the shadow already inherent in the card. Here — a mind indifferent to its own ideas and to truth: slippery, flexible, ready to 'quote scripture' in defense of any thesis and then immediately the opposite. This is 'not the time' to conduct oneself coldly and calculatingly, to plot cunning revenge, or to be excessively intellectual, dogmatic, and fussily analytical. Sterile intellectualism, ideas without practical outlet, everything brought to unreality, stripped of substance. The person wanders from cult to cult, from fashion to fashion, brilliantly sustaining the ephemeral. It is easy to be deceived by them: outer form creates the appearance of depth where there is none.

How it differs from Waite
Rider-Waite-SmithKnight of Swords
vs
Thoth TarotPrince of Swords
The Prince of Swords in Thoth corresponds in rank to the Knight of Swords in Waite; both figures belong to the same elemental role — they are the 'mood,' the atmosphere of an icy north wind, within which events unfold. Waite's Knight charges into attack with sword drawn — an image of sharp conflict, heated discussion, a hard but clarifying conversation. This deck's Prince charges in a chariot, with the same martial sharpness but with emphasis on the advantage of a flexible, resourceful mind: what matters is not the clash itself, but the quick-wittedness with which you conduct it.
