Interpretation
A sealed letter, and behind it — folders, newspaper clippings, diplomas, certificates. This is the card of paper and digital carriers of information: any documents, postcards, business cards, certificates — and above all what they exist for: the conveying of news and messages. But these are not tidings-bearers in the way of The Rider or The Birds; they are specifically written (and occasionally spoken) communications and notifications. You read a letter and throw it away, which is why the card carries a hint of superficiality and transience: the event described is momentary, will pass quickly and be forgotten, there is no depth to it (unless The Cross is nearby). In spreads about relationships it often signals that communication is active, that new contacts and acquaintances are being made. The card is generally straightforward and neutral — what kind of letter it is, the neighbours will tell you.
Life Areas
Communication as the axis of connection — texts, calls, a constant exchange of news. Often this is the start of a romance in words: flirtation, light teasing, a long-distance relationship, or a virtual acquaintance; the contact is alive but more mental than deeply felt. Sometimes — superficiality: lots of conversation but only about everyday things, without real openness. The card's counsel is not to wait for your feelings to be guessed, but to speak and write directly: one sincere message is enough to revive a connection.
Always some kind of documents — official papers, bookkeeping, sending out CVs, orders, reports, bureaucracy. Office work, pushing paper: a clerk, secretary, manager, journalist, postal worker. Often temporary or fixed-term work, limited by a contract. Financially — cheques, bank notifications, contracts, a credit card; the current financial situation will not last long.
Usually nothing serious; test results, a prescription, sick leave, certificates, referrals. Often points to problems with eyesight. The illness is minor, the attitude to health tends to be casual.
Person / Character
Sociable, easy-going, quick to make contact, loves sharing fresh news. But do not count on a lasting friendship: seriousness and depth are unknown to them, and they will not resist the temptation to pass on your secret to someone else. At first they seem well-read and knowledgeable, but their knowledge is shallow, their convictions flimsy, and their experience thin. Often a go-between passing on other people's information; someone you have crossed paths with for a time only.

An active, fast card — by analogy with near-instant email and messaging. Movement is quick, sometimes unexpected, but brief: it comes and goes. In terms of time — not long, soon. Distance is usually short, though correspondence can of course be international.

Mythology
The letter is one of the most modern symbols in the deck: a sealed envelope in the mind of a contemporary person is firmly linked with receiving news, with a pleasant surprise. The card brings messages of every kind — business papers, a love correspondence, official documents; what is hidden inside the envelope is what the neighbouring cards will tell you.
